SGA discusses committee goals for the year

On the organization’s Sept. 25’s meeting, the Student Government Association discussed different goals each committee decided on for the year. In an effort to increase student involvement, each committee reminded everyone present that any student is welcome at the SGA meetings and they can participate in committee discussions.

The Relations Committee decided to reschedule the 9/11 ceremony to Oct. 11 and change its focus to center around first responders and hurricane victims. All the details have not been decided on, but SGA will advertise the event closer to the new date.

Nomination ballots for Mr. and Mrs. UNG will be coming out in everyone’s email this week. The Elections Committee wants to remind everyone to vote as they hope to raise election participation by 15% compared to last year.

The Parking and Safety Committee asked everyone to install the SmartTraxx app on their phone to keep track of campus shuttles locations and their route plans. This can be especially useful for commuters looking to know when the shuttles plan to come to certain stops.

Alyson Paul, the dean of students on the Dahlonega campus, reminded everyone Alcohol Education Week starts on Oct. 16.
