SGA elects new vice president and approves two clubs

On the organization’s Nov. 27 meeting, the Student Government Association voted Junior Tyler Farney to be the association’s vice president.

SGA will be holding representative elections on Jan. 22 for the upcoming semester. Open positions include: three senior representatives, two junior representatives and one sophomore representative.

The organization’s members also voted to recognize two new clubs to the student life committee: The Video Game Development Club and the Georgia Astronomy Students Association. According to its mission statement, the Video Game Development Club “strives to bring together individuals who share an interest in game development and to create a cooperative learning environment where this passion will thrive and grow.” The Georgia Astronomy Students Association’s goal is “to provide enthusiasts of astronomy a space to discuss, share, and explore the cosmos.”

Nighthawks Entertainment will be hosting a movie showing of Baby Driver on Nov. 29 at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. The organization will also be having an SEC Championship party on Dec. 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. in chow. There are 50 free tickets for commuters available at 3:30 p.m.

On Dec. 6, stress relief comedian Morgan Jay will be performing to relieve some tension from finals.

On Dec. 7, SGA will be hosting its annual Midnight Breakfast in Chow from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
