Uranium Lines, a look under a blacklight at an early 20th century butter dish
The photo of the week for April 7 is by Greg Bowman, history major on the University of North Georgia Gainesville campus. Bowman went back to school during COVID-19 at UNG and he got his bachelor’s degree in information technology in 2021. He now studies history and minors in journalism.
Bowman won photo of the week with his photo, “Uranium Lines”, which is a closeup of the inside of an early 20th century Uranium glass butter dish under a blacklight.
He said, “I’ve got a collection of probably about 40 or 50 pieces of Uranium glass that I keep in the living room.”
Bowman wanted his photo to have color be the focus, and after a few wide shots, he said he “decided to go for something a little more abstract,” making the object less clear, and giving the green and purple more importance.
Bowman enjoys photography and takes his camera whenever he goes somewhere new, always looking at life from different angles.
