Welcome to Vanguard Student Media, the student-run news organization of the University of North Georgia. We are mem­bers of the Geor­gia Col­lege Press Asso­ci­a­tion, the Associated Col­le­giate Press and the College Media Association. The staff strives to inform, edu­cate and enter­tain the mem­bers of the UNG com­mu­nity, and we are open to all ideas and opin­ions. Opinions here do not nec­es­sar­ily reflect the opin­ions of UNG’s admin­is­tra­tion, fac­ulty or staff. All ideas expressed in Opin­ion arti­cles are those of the indi­vid­ual writ­ers. The University of North Georgia was formed in 2013 by the consolidation of Gainesville State College and North Georgia College and State University. This site continues the strong journalistic traditions of both schools.
