Stop by and open doors to your future. The University of North Georgia Dahlonega campus is hosting an All-Majors Career Fair on Feb 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Convocation Center. This is an opportunity for all UNG students, no matter the major, to speak with over 50 employers and gain insight on possible opportunities.
The career fair helps students find future employment, internship, and post grad opportunities. Some of the internships that will be featured could be paid or allow students to gain credit towards their degree.
Lisa Walker Assistant Director of Career Services-Employer Engagement says, “come dress to impress,” for those wanting to make a lasting impression. This means coming in professional attire that will make you stand out to employers. Walker suggests students bring several copies of their resumes in case they find companies they are interested in applying for a job or internship with. Walker also suggests researching the companies, following them on LinkedIn, and exploring how to be a better candidate for their open positions.
Even if you do not leave the fair with a job or internship opportunity it is a great way to develop your networking skills. Making a great impression and conversing with a recruiter can help build a professional relationship that can aid you in the future.
Walker wants students to show up and ask questions. She says, “This is a great way to learn what recruiters are looking for and how you can adjust what you are doing to find the job you hope to get after graduation.”
Students are also welcome to approach the Career Services table before walking through the fair to ask any last-minute questions or advice before speaking to recruiters.
