Welcome to Vanguard Student Media, the student-run news organization of the University of North Georgia. We are mem­bers of the Geor­gia Col­lege Press Asso­ci­a­tion, the Associated Col­le­giate Press and the College Media Association.

Vanguard’s mission is to provide unbiased news about the university to students, faculty and staff. Our organization focuses on highlighting student talents through their writing, photography and professionalism. We believe what we do as a club helps elevate our students’ lives, allowing them to gain real journalistic experience on a smaller scale and grow their portfolios.

Students, you do not have to be a journalism major to join. Any student interested in photography, graphic design, popular culture, social media, writing and editing are all encouraged to join and focus on their strengths. There are a ton of opportunities for creativity.

The University of North Georgia was formed in 2013 by the consolidation of Gainesville State College and North Georgia College and State University. This site continues the strong journalistic traditions of both schools.
