On Jan. 15, Lucy Dacus announced her newest project “Forever Is A Feeling.” This is Dacus’ first solo project since teaming up with Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker to make Boygenius. The album was announced along with the release of two singles from the project, “Ankles” and “Limerence.” The first single “Ankles” also released with a music video filmed in Paris. The video stars Dacus with a performance by Havana Rose Liu.

In a press release, Dacus states her inspiration for the upcoming work. “I got kicked in the head with emotions, falling in love, falling out of love. You have to destroy things in order to create things. And I did destroy a really beautiful life.” The intended message of the album is that ‘forever’ as a concept is ephemeral; it is impossible to pin down. That does not stop Dacus from trying her best.
The album art by Will St. John is an intimate portrait of Dacus with the title of the album tattooed across her chest. The idea that one experiences ‘forever’ emotionally rather than physically is what Dacus is really trying to get across. “You can’t actually capture ‘forever,'” Dacus says. “But I think we feel ‘forever’ in moments. I don’t know how much time I’ve spent in ‘forever,’ but I know I’ve visited.”

Despite the lack of a full tracklist, the list of accompanying artists featured on the album is full of artists in Dacus’ sphere. Her Boygenius co-stars Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker will be making an appearance along with artists like Hozier, Blake Mills and Bartees Strange.

In addition to the release date of the album, Dacus has announced a plethora of tour dates for fans to attend. The first of the dates make up the small tour, “Museums and Special Places”, which are four dates of smaller shows performed in more intimate venues. This tour begins on Feb. 18 and runs until Mar. 18.
The “Forever Is A Feeling” tour begins April 16 and runs to May 18. Making stops in major cities including Los Angeles, New York and Nashville this tour is a return to form for Dacus, with less exclusively sized venues. These shows will also be supported by Katie Gavin of MUNA and jasmine.4.t.
Fans looking to score tickets should act quickly, as nearly half the shows have sold out.
