Disney announced plans to reboot several of their fan favorite television shows from the early 2000s. Some have already aired on Disney+ with their first few episodes having part of the original casts.
Some of the most popular shows returning this year include “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Malcolm in the Middle.”
Although people are excited to see their childhood show air again, Caroline Elam, a junior at the University of Georgia, stated she personally does not care that the shows are being revived.
On behalf of spin-off series “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place,” Elam said, “If they aren’t delivered right, then I wouldn’t really be interested. It just depends on how the show is portrayed.”
Elam wanted to see how some of her favorite childhood stars like Selena Gomez and Frankie Muniz have grown over the years and to watch them act again.
“I feel like it would give some kind of closure. But depending on how the show ends, it would really depend on if I would be satisfied or not.” – Caroline Elam, a junior at the University of Georgia
The original show, “Wizards of Waverly Place,” aired 18 years before this Disney classic revival.
Selena Gomez and David Henrie returned to their on-air sibling roles as Alex and Justin Russo. In the new adaptation, Gomez is the executive director.
After the shows Disney+ release in October of last year, it was confirmed this month that there will be a second season.
Disney also announced the revival of the 2005 show “Malcolm in the Middle” for a four episode limited series that will premiere this year. Returning cast and crew members include Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek and screenwriter and producer Linwood Boomer.
The revival explores the family’s current dynamics while Malcolm and his daughter return home to visit Malcolm’s parents for their 40th wedding anniversary party.
“Daredevil” recently returned as “Daredevil: Born Again.” The series premiered last month, with weekly episodes every Tuesday.

Charlie Cox returned as Daredevil (Matt Murdoch), Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin (Wilson Frisk), among other original cast members such as Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson and Jon Bernthal.
The new adaptation will have nine episodes in the first season and a second has been confirmed.
The executive directors at Disney have teased revivals of other classics, but nothing has been announced yet.
