The University of North Georgia fall intramurals are back. Students can join team sports like pickleball, three-on-three basketball, sand volleyball and seven-on-seven flag football. Flag football, pickleball and volleyball have men’s, woman’s and coed leagues. Basketball has two leagues, men’s and women’s.
On Aug. 28, Flag football held its first scrimmage, but the practice game did not count toward the records of either team. TJ Wilson, a senior kinesiology major said, ” I love the [opportunity] for the refs to learn and get better. Its better for [the players] the more [the refs] know.”

Wilson said that Intramurals is a great way to scratch the competitive “itch.” He said, “It’s great to have good competition, especially as we have gotten older there [are] less opportunities for it.”
Patrick Corrigan, a business management major, said, “Intramurals is a great escape for the stress some of the students here can feel. For me, the games feel similar to high school, where for the hour – hour and a half we play nothing else matters.” He also said that meeting new people keeps him coming back to intramurals every fall. “If I had one complaint about it, it would be me having to take off my bracelets. Other than that, I love it,” Corrigan said.
If you are interested in playing, you can still join a team. Download the app ImLeagues on your phone, to join a team or make yourself a free agent. Fall intramurals last until October.
