Ducktown Dental Care, a Cumming-based dental practice, is giving back to the community Saturday, Sept. 6. They are welcoming both new and returning patients for their own “Free Dentistry Day.”
Patients are offered the choice of one service: a cleaning, extraction or filling. The event starts at 8 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m., but services will be performed on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 12:00 p.m. with no appointments made in advance.
“Free Dentistry Day” aims to bring healthy smiles to those who need it most. According to a national poll from the PAN Foundation’s Center for Patient Research, nearly 40% of insured adults do not receive regular dental care, and nearly four in 10 of those report it is because they cannot afford it.
Patients of the free Dentistry day can look forward to saving anywhere from $200-500, depending on the service done. Patients coming in with dental emergencies may also be eligible for future referrals.
Mohamad Mahlamat, office manager, is looking forward to welcoming the community.
“Everybody is welcome, we’re just trying to help the community,” he said, “That’s our end goal here.”
Ducktown Dental Care is a newer practice, but it has hopes of running the day as an annual event.
“This is our way of thanking (our patients) for trusting us and coming here and being our patients,” Mahlamat said.
“Doctor Roderick and myself both like giving back to patients, and also, we all know that good oral health is good for your overall health.” – Mohamad Mahlamat, office manager at Ducktown Dental Care
Depending on needs, Ducktown Dental Care will be seeing as many patients as possible and will be trying to accommodate everyone. The office shared that it is looking forward to giving back and educating the community.
“Whoever needs treatment and can’t afford it or, can’t afford that kind of treatment can come in and we can help them as well,” he said.
With over 400 shares on Facebook, the business is planning for a big crowd. Other doctors and assistants will be joining for the day to accommodate as many people as possible. Last year, Ducktown Dental joined hundreds of other practices nationwide to serve a total of over 5,700 patients.
Each patient will be sent home with an at-home care bag containing a toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss. For more information, patients are encouraged to call the office. The number and office information can be found here.
