With the fall starting, residents of Forsyth County are gearing up for one of the region’s largest fall traditions. The Cumming Country Fair and Festival is set for October 2-12. The fair promises rides, food and entertainment.
The fair runs for 11 days, featuring a full schedule of attractions. Gates open at 4 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. on the weekends.
Daily free shows and entertainment, including local performers, petting zoos and heritage exhibits are offered. You can also count on a wide range of food from carnival staples to regional food.
The fair draws over 250,000 people each year, making it one of the biggest local events. The fair is even known to people who have never experienced it. Renee Laden, who has lived in Forsyth County for 16 years, has never been, but this year she will be attending for the first time. “I’m excited, I’ve heard a lot about the fair but never have experienced it. I can’t wait to see what all the hype is about,” said Laden.
The fair administrators will often give out deals and discounts during the week. Free admission is scheduled for certain days, including the opening day. This was provided by Northside Hospital and the Children’s Health Care of Atlanta. There are also ride discount specials and promotional offerings throughout the fair’s duration.
Improvements continue to grow; the festival will have a new look this year. A new pavilion is being built called the Lewis Ledbetter overlook, which will be near the skybridge and the ticket booth.
The fairgrounds have been improving each year, and locals have picked up on it. Frankie Gine, a Forsyth County native, is impressed by the progress. “I go to the fair almost every year, and I’ve seen the changes and effort they put forth; it’s nice to see how much the county cares; they really want what’s best for the people,” said Gine.
It’s more than just rides and food for some people; it’s a tradition. Maxwell Smith, who was born and raised in Forsyth County, has never missed a year of the celebration
“My parents took me every year when I was a kid, as I get older, I continue to go. The fair does a great job representing the County.”- Maxwell Smith, Forsyth County native.
The 2025 Cumming County Fair and Festival aims to deliver both familiar favorites and fresh experiences. For many in Forsyth County, it remains a marker of autumn and a time for people to come together.
