The University of North Georgia’s Panhellenic Council hosted Philanthrofest on Friday, October 3rd. This event brought UNG’s 6 sororities together to raise awareness for each of their philanthropies. Most importantly, to bring awareness to Panhellenic’s philanthropy, Circle of Sisterhood.

Circle of Sisterhood encourages and empowers sorority women. Their mission is to raise money and awareness for uneducated women worldwide.
“Education eradicates poverty. When people are educated, there are more job opportunities, less oppression and an overall better society.” – Makenzie Burge, Junior, Psychology
Makenzie Burge, Vice President of Philanthropy and Scholarship, curated this event. Her goal was to promote women supporting women and philanthropy education. Burge ensured that every sorority had the space to promote their philanthropy and speak on its importance.
“This event means a lot to me. It is the first event I’ve ever done alone, and it’s super special being able to share it with the whole Panhellenic community. Being able to support one another on philanthropies that are so close to everyone’s heart is amazing,” Burge said.

Burge started her event planning in April. She contacted local businesses and communicated with each sorority’s philanthropy chair. Dress Up was able to come to Philanthrofest and 10% of each purchase went to Circle of Sisterhood.
