The University of North Georgia Student Government Association on the Dahlonega campus spent Oct. 25 sifting through various reallocation and mini-grant requests.
Clubs and associations such as the Black Student Union, Mock Trial Team and Gender and Sexuality Alliance requested fund reallocations for club events.
Both the Black Student Union, which requested funds for a costume ball on the Gainesville campus, and the Mock Trial Team, which asked for funds for travel to an off-campus debate, had their requests denied with a motion to revisit them next week provided revisions occur.
The Gender and Sexuality Alliance requested a budget reallocation of $150. They intend on spending it on gift cards for students who win prizes at the LGBTQ+ History Month Art Show, with the funds coming from prior events. The SGA filed a motion to approve this request.
The Corps Committee Report disclosed that there are two new cadet sleep-ins planned for this semester. One of these sleep-ins is planned for finals week, while the other is contingent on whether or not the Atlanta Braves win the World Series.
With Halloween looming, the Nighthawks Entertainment Haunted House and Halloween Dance served as the closer for this meeting. The haunted house and dance, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 28, will feature six UNG organizations. The haunted house will be open from 7-10 p.m., while the dance will be from 7-11 p.m. There will also be a contest where students can win a Bluetooth speaker and a trophy for having the best costume.
The UNG SGA board plans to revisit the denied reallocation and grant requests next week in their weekly meeting.
