Come and see The University of North Georgia’s Theatre Guild on the Dahlonega Campus production of Heathers the Musical. They will be doing the musical on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 30 at 3 p.m. at the Hoag Student Center.
Heathers the Musical is a high-energy comedy that also touches on serious issues including bullying, teen suicide, sexual assault and school violence. The musical takes place in 1989 and is based on the film “Heathers,” which is about the main character Veronica Sawyer attending Westerberg High while longing to be a part of the clique it-girls that are referred to as the Heathers. Veronica gets caught up in a complicated situation that helps her climb the ladder of popularity.
Sophia Armour, freshman business major, who is playing a classmate said, “I can’t wait to perform! I think this play will help people understand the importance of mental health and ways to get that help if they need it.”
Breann Hill, junior criminal justice and forensics major, who is playing Veronica Sawyer said, “My hope in playing this role for Heathers is that it will encourage others to step out in boldness and know that they are not alone.” Make sure to check out Heather the musical this weekend to learn more about being yourself.
Tickets for the show are $20 at the door. Tickets are $10 for the show on Sunday, Oct. 30 for students in their best 80s attire.
