Last week on the University of North Georgia’s Dahlonega campus, a gas leak was reported at Chow Dining Hall. The school sent out an email on Jan. 21 warning students to evacuate and to steer clear of the area.
The UNG email alert included, “Events/classes are cancelled/suspended at this location and traffic in and out of the area is restricted. Please avoid this area until further notice.”
About an hour after the first email, students were informed that the mechanical team contained the gas leak, but the dining hall was still unavailable, but all meals plans were being accepted at all locations within the Hoag Food Court.
Dining hall managers and staff said they could not comment on the procedure for gas leak incidents.
