“We hope that this game shows us what we need to work on and change to become better prepared for our big tournament this year.” -Chris Godinez, Coach and Captain of UNG Gainesville Fútbol Club
Building on the momentum from last semester, the UNG Gainesville Fútbol Club enters this new season with a strong history after securing impressive victories against the University of West Georgia and UNG Dahlonega.
Chris Godinez, Coach and Captain of UNG Gainesville Fútbol Club, said, “Since our upcoming game is our first of the season, we have a lot of new talent we’re trying to include in our club.” Godinez touched base on the club’s players, saying, “Everyone that plays in our midfield and defensive line is extremely good.”
Godinez also emphasized the strength of their lineup. “We have people on the bench that initially would’ve started last semester, so our team this semester is full of standout players.” This depth enhances competition within the squad and sets the stage for a dynamic season ahead.
The match against UNG Oconee adds extra excitement as both campuses compete to establish their soccer programs. Fans can expect a game filled with competitive spirit and sportsmanship as the two teams compete for victory. This athletic event is an opportunity for players to represent their campus and for fans to reassemble in support.
This inaugural season is just the beginning for the club. As they kick off their first game, players and supporters can look forward to a season filled with athletic achievements and memorable moments.
