Community is important for college students. For students wanting to prioritize their faith, the University of North Georgia has several ministries for different denominations. Within these ministries, students can grow a faith-based community and find people with whom they can relate.
The Living Room has a mission to be a home away from home for adults, mostly college, ages 18-25. They aim to be a place where people feel belonging. The Living Room is hosted at Browns Bridge Church Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. For further information, go to UNGconnect.
“My faith has evolved so much here since I’ve started in this ministry. Since I got here my freshman year, TLR was the only place I felt safe and loved enough to ask questions, dive in deep, be vulnerable, and get to know the students and leaders around me. From my freshman year to now, there has been so much development and growth. I now intern at Browns Bridge Church in the high school environment.” – Chloe Schneible, Psychology with Criminal Justice minor

TLR is more than a group of young adults diving deep into the Bible. It is important for them to serve their local and international communities as well.
“Our ministry is heavily involved in both global and local opportunities. Globally, we do a Mérida trip every year. Locally, we help people with service projects and bring in camps that are looking for counselors to come and speak at TLR. Also, we encourage students to get involved within Browns Bridge and serve on Sundays as small group leaders for the middle or high school environments,” said Piper Nix, junior business management major.

Baptist Collegiate Ministries focuses on teaching about Christ, assisting in growing faith and church involvement. BCM is hosted in Dahlonega on Monday at 7:15 p.m. and in Gainesville on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Locations can be found on their website.
When asked her favorite memory from BCM, Jordan Nichols junior psychology major, said the following.
“It’s so hard to pick just one memory, but one trip that we always take is the Panama City Beach trip after finals are over. It is the sweetest week, full of worshipping the Lord and learning more about God. Making new friendships and memories that will last a lifetime. If there is anything I will say about BCM is that it has been the most fun, welcoming, and Jesus-loving community. I’m so blessed to get to be a part of such a beautiful movement,” Nichols said.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes’ mission is to see the world transformed by Christ through the influence of coaches and their athletes. FCA is not strictly for athletes. They welcome all who want to explore their faith through fellowship with others. FCA meets in Dahlonega on Monday nights at 6 p.m. on the Memorial Promenade. More information is located here.
“FCA has always been a part of my life. From middle school all the way to college now. I personally felt like I didn’t have a purpose or an outlet to share my story until I got connected with FCA. I feel like the word placed FCA on my heart to be able to share the struggles and the loss of identity that I went through as an athlete versus who I am now. Making sure athletes know that their identity is not their sport, but it’s in Christ first, is so important to me.” – Makayla Stolarik, Organizational Leadership Communications

There are more than just these few ministries on campus. Some others include Delight Ministries, an all-women’s group, and Catholic Campus Ministry. Explore UNGconnect to find more ministries that may be for you!
