For the third week in a row, the Georgia Bulldogs football team is ranked No. 1 in the AP polls, the Associated Press Poll that ranks collegiate teams every week. This is the first time the Bulldogs have been No. 1 since 1982.

So far, the Bulldogs are 7-0 on the season, with 5 of those wins being in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The team has also done well when it comes to recruiting future players, they recently got verbal commitments from multiple top-rated prospects in the 2022 and 2023 classes, making them ranked No. 1 for the 2022 recruiting class.

“Waking up after we beat Auburn and Alabama lost to Texas A&M realizing the Dawgs were number one was the craziest feeling.” -Elizabeth McMinn

The Bulldogs are scheduled to play Florida this weekend in hopes to add another win to their undefeated record. The Gators are 4-3 this season, with two of the wins being in the SEC but are not ranked in the top 25 in the AP polls. After Florida, the team will have two more SEC games and two more out-of-conference games. Depending on how they do will determine whether or not the Bulldogs go to the SEC Championship for the East, as well as how they will stand in the playoffs.

“I am excited about the Florida game and the rest of the games this season but also a little nervous because I want them to keep winning,” said UNG freshman Lindsey Riddle.

Most fans agree that the way the team is playing almost seems too good to be true. Some fans think defensive star Jordan Davis should be on the Heisman watchlist, while others love him but just hope the team can keep it up and make it to the SEC Championship and National Championship.

Fans all around are excited about the Bulldogs and have high hopes of making it to the SEC Championship and further into the playoffs. McMinn said, “Going to the games and seeing it all pay off for the team is the best feeling in the world, I hope they can keep it up.”
