The University of North Georgia’s Women in Technology club is dedicated to opening the doors for women looking to shape the future of technology.
President Jenny Maaskant says, “Women in Technology has provided me with an amazing community of people who continuously offer their encouragement and support.”
The Women in Technology website says “WIT is committed to making Georgia the state with the highest percentage of women in the STEAM workforce by providing opportunities that champion women throughout their education and career.”
The club aims to explore the latest tech trends, build a supportive network of like-minded women, showcase inspiring success stories and make a lasting impact on the tech world.
“Technology is constantly evolving, and there is always something new to learn every day, so having a strong group of women to go through these experiences with is very comforting,” says club officer Destani Fountain.
She says, “We do things from fun socials, networking events, fundraisers, guest speakers, technology-based challenges, and attend conventions.”
The Women in Technology club has a speaker series on the second Monday of each month at noon and is always accepting new members. Anyone interested in joining the club can register through UNG Connect.
