Disney College Program applications have opened for a unique internship opportunity at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. The college program welcomes students to work in various roles, such as Food and Beverage, Retail and Sales, Operations, Recreation, Entertainment and Lodging.
This internship is available for college students who are enrolled and taking classes or college graduates of less than two years. The DCP allows participants an opportunity to get hands-on work experience in a new environment as well as getting the opportunity to meet people from around the United States and around the world.
University of North Georgia junior Kaitlyn Panebianco was drawn to the college program experience because of her family and childhood memories with the company and “wanted to be able to help make those memories for others.”
While taking two online classes through UNG for her music education major, Panebianco works as a concierge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. She has had the opportunity to perform in the cast choir for the holidays in the candlelight processional at EPCOT.
This is Panebianco’s second time as a college program participant and believes the work experience has been the most beneficial to her.
“Disney has influenced my life in so many ways, from growing up going to the parks on vacation, to meeting some of the greatest people working for this company and being able to make magic for our guests every day.” – Kaitlyn Panebianco, University of North Georgia Student
This internship pays college program participants $17 per hour and offers a livable experience in Flamingo Crossings Village, which is a purpose-built housing community with participants from around the world.
Within this apartment community, there is transportation to work, quiet spaces for studies as well as class offerings. These classes include behind the scenes at Disney, opportunities to meet professionals from the company and skill classes to carry into students’ futures.
DCP veteran Becca Johnson is returning for her third program this month.
Johnson’s first program was at Hollywood Studios Entertainment costuming, which she returns back to after her second program as Custodial Guest Services at Disney Springs.
“Working at Studios I learned I can do things on my own,” she said.
Johnson highlighted the out of work opportunities, such as cast celebration nights and backstage tours of ride operations that are exclusively for cast members.
More benefits include complimentary theme park admission, cast-exclusive discounts and weekly pay.
“My favorite part has always been the people,” she said. “I’ve met the best people and have made unforgettable memories.”
Current UNG sophomore studying biology and program participant Erin Eakin brings up everything she has learned while being in Orlando.
“Being down here has taught me not to take anything for granted and to soak it all in,” she said.
Eakin enjoys seeing how the leadership works within her program as she works as a seater in the Magic Kingdom. She said this job involves a lot of guest interactions and figuring out ways to make their day more magical.
Eakin hopes to take this magic back into her daily life.
“Everyone deserves a special day regardless of if they are at Disney or not,” she said.
The college program allows access to “making magic” and gaining skills while at one of the top entertainment companies in the world. This internship grants access to a unique experience for students who are interested in exploring new opportunities during or after college.
