February has come to an end, and music has been as lively as ever. Numerous artists released projects throughout the month, and some have left an impact, even though they just came out.
Starting the first week of the month, J-Cole released his final album on Feb. 6. “The Fall Off” hit number one on the Billboard “Hot 200 Chart” and marks his final album released ever.
Feb. 6 also brought the release of popular Jonas Brothers member Nick Jonas. His fifth album, “Sunday Best,” debuted at number 30 on the Billboard “Hot 200 Chart”. This was his first album in over five years.
The soundtrack album “Wuthering Heights” by Charli XCX released the following week. The album debuted at number eight on the Billboard “Hot 200 Chart” and had the hit songs “House” and “Chains of Love,” with the latter charting at number 87 on the Billboard “Hot 100 Chart”.
Brent Faiyaz also released his third studio album, “Icon,” which debuted at number six on the Billboard “Hot 200 Chart”. This was his first album released in four years, and with his album charting in the top ten, you can tell his fans have missed him.
Korinne Intriago, “I was very excited when Brent announced he was coming out with an album. I’ve always thought his music was good, and I wondered what songs I was going to like.”
On Feb. 20, teen icon Hilary Duff released her first album in over a decade called “Luck… or Something”. The album debuted at number three on the Billboard “Hot 200 Chart”. Hilary Duff has come a long way from her role as Lizzy Maguire in the Disney Show and is showing her maturity and growth in this new project.
Hilary Duff told Vogue, “I have the honor and joy of meaning so much to so many people during a very specific time in their lives, but I’m ready to meet them again as the woman I am now.”
Another notable release that came out on the same day was country superstar Megan Moroney. She released her third studio album, “Cloud 9,” which debuted at number one on the Billboard “Hot 200 Chart”. This will mark her first number one on the chart, which is an impressive achievement. Moroney is currently gearing up to embark on a world tour in the United States and overseas.
“’Cloud 9′ was my favorite album out of all the new music released in February. My favorite color is pink, and her album theme was pink, which made it even more exciting for me.”- Halle Gunter, junior communications major

The last Friday of the month brought the biggest release of the year so far, Bruno Mars. His fourth studio album, “The Romantic,” has already been well-received. It got roughly 26 million streams on the first night of release. Although not record-breaking, this achievement is very high compared to many other artists. “The Romantic” debuted at number one on the “Hot 200 Chart”.
“‘The Romantic’ was my second-favorite album this month. My favorite song from this album is ‘I Just Might’ because of how upbeat it is,” said Gunter.
The final big release was by K-Pop superstars Blackpink. Blackpink released their EP (extended play) “Deadline” after four years of working on their own solo projects. This marks a return to being a group, with them also working on their third album, set to come out soon.
Many other artists also released music in February such as, Mitski, Ella Mai, Willow, Leigh-Anne, Mumford and Sons.
