Margaritaville has just unveiled a new water slide complex at its park in Lake Lanier Islands.

Margaritaville at Lanier Islands is making waves with the announcement of the state’s very first “waterslide coaster,” as an addition to the newly rebranded, Fins Up Water Park. The park held a special ceremony on March 13 to celebrate the beginning of construction on this exciting new ride. “Georgia’s first waterslide coaster will be an epic addition. Margaritaville at Lanier Islands is the place to be this summer,” says “Bucky” Perry, Vice President of Margaritaville at Lanier Islands.

This is a major multi-million-dollar expansion, the likes of which has not been seen in decades. Apocalypso will stand tall as the focal point of a tower housing three other tube slides, Serpentine Storm, Dreamsicle Dive and Mango Mania which is created for younger riders. One of Apocalypso’s nearly vertical drops will be the largest in the U.S. Riders will reach speeds of up to 30 mph on the 418-foot slide. Once completed, the water park will be home to Georgia’s largest waterslide complex, featuring 15 slides by this summer.

Last year a fence barrier was put in the water that prevented patrons from swimming at the popular Paradise Beach. “Everybody was really upset with the island. It was a difficult situation. What I’ve heard is that the barrier is going to be moved further out into the water so people will be able to enjoy the water while they are out on the beach. That plus the waterslides, I’m expecting it to be a big, beautiful summer for us,” says Wallace.

“I’ve heard it will be four slides in one, and a water roller coaster. It sounds fun and scary. I am especially excited to have the beach back,” says Cindy Jones a local living near Lake Lanier.

The new slides are set to be ready for the park’s summer season opening weekend on May 4. The 2024 Summer Fin Pass includes unlimited park admission, gate entry and parking, daily boat docking and entry to special events for $99.99.
