After the 92-81 triumph at home over Columbus State, the University of North Georgia Men’s Basketball team earned their 20th victory of the season.

Frank Champion scored 23 points for the Nighthawks including seven rebounds and attributing ten assists. AJ White, a freshman, scored 15 points seizing six rebounds. Giancarlo Bastianoni scored 14 points for the team with eight rebounds. Cayden Charles, a freshman from Kennesaw, Georgia scored 12 points.

The Nighthawks dominated the second half, with the student section and band lifting the team’s momentum.

UNG’s three-point scores were on the rise leading to a 22 point lead for the Nighthawks in the beginning of the second half. The CSU coach called time out to reinforce the Cougar’s blocking abilities, and tried to amass the Nighthawk’s momentum.

The UNG crowds begin to yell ,“Wings Up!” for the Nighthawks. At the last buzzer, the final victory belonged to the Nighthawks.

Champion says, “I feel like we’ve been having like a bad time with getting the lead and letting it cut short, but I feel like today we dominated most of the main of the game and finish it out pretty strong.”

He said that they didn’t defend much as they could have, and that making free throws was a big part of them wining the game. “I think we did good with that, that was a big stretch for us,” he said.

UNG’s Head Coach Dan Evans says, “We did a good job for long stretches, pushing the second half of playing in our control and making the right decisions offensively, and I felt we gradually were better defensively in controlling the basketball and making their shots tougher.” He continues saying, “any time you can win a lead game by double figures and control most of the second half, I mean it’s a pretty good day.”
